Brigid Baker is a strong woman.
Hailing from Hobart, Brigid now calls Canberra home and will be putting her strength to the test in the upcoming Invictus Games in Sydney from 20 to 27 October 2018 where she will be competing in three different events; Shotput, Discus and Powerlifting. Brigid acknowledges that sport has reignited a passion in her which she thought was lost long ago.
After joining the Australian Army Reserves as a Medic in 2002, Brigid moved to full-time Army service in 2005 and was commissioned in mid-2006 into Intelligence Corps. In 2008, she participated in border patrol operations off the north coast of Australia and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2011. She was medically discharged in late 2017.
By merely being selected to participate in the Invictus Games, Brigid says “I already feel like I’ve won.”
The Vikings Group are proud to be supporting Brigid on her road to the Invictus Games and wish her the best of luck in all three events.
