From its founding, the Vikings Group has been dedicated to putting the community at the centre of all it does.

Our commitment to our community is embedded into every decision we make.  It is our aim to foster a culture where our staff and Members can work together to support the local communities that we serve, on a continually sustainable basis.

The Charity of the Year initiative gives Members and our employees the chance to pool our strengths to support a cause we feel passionate about.

Each year the Vikings Group in conjunction with Members and staff select and partner with one Not-For-Profit organisation. The partnership will enable the selected charity the ability to harness the fundraising power of the Vikings Group.

Vikings pledge a donation in conjunction with the commitment to fundraise and promote the Charity of the Year for a full 12-month period through all mediums.

Our Charity of the year, Marymead

In 2017/2018 Vikings Group is working to raise money and awareness for Marymead, helping to build new Care Cottages - providing hope and change for kids and families in times of crisis.

Marymead is a well-respected community based not-for-profit organisation that has been providing a range of high quality, innovative support services to children, young people and families since 1967. Marymead is currently Canberra’s main provider of emergency and short term accommodation.

The partnership between Vikings Group and Marymead has allowed the charity to further engage with the community and continue their mission to provide hope and change for kids and families in times of crisis. The money raised will assist Marymead to build new Care Cottages providing much needed short-term accommodation for children and families both in the ACT and from regional areas of NSW. The needs of the children will vary but will include emergency and crisis accommodation for vulnerable children and families, respite accommodation for young people with disabilities and a place to call home, even for a short period, for those children with nowhere else to go.

Marymead’s CEO Camilla Rowland is extremely grateful for the Viking Group’s support. “This opportunity will contribute significantly to our Care Cottage project and help us achieve our mission to provide hope and change for children and families in crisis,” she said.
