Vikings Group provides almost $1.7 million this year to sport in the Tuggeranong Valley

In a story that is almost 50 years old, the Vikings Group have again cemented their role as part of the social fabric of the Tuggeranong Valley.  

This year, Vikings Group have donated $1.698 million of financial support to over 50 sporting groups with over 7,000 athletes participating in what is a true legacy. 

“The promotion of sport in the Tuggeranong Valley and wider ACT community is at the heart of what we do at Vikings.  We are proud to support almost 50 sporting groups and see the great sense of community that comes from such a diverse choice of activities. I think we do it well and it’s wonderful to see their appreciation for our assistance and we join in celebrating their success. ” says Mr Anthony Hill, Chief Executive . 

Opening their doors at Erindale Vikings in 1979, The Vikings Group has had a long affiliation with many of the Tuggeranong Sports. 

“Our first partnerships in 1979 along with Vikings Rugby were with Vikings Hockey, Vikings Baseball and Tuggeranong Athletics Club – all of these partnerships continue to this day”. 

Incorporating almost every other sport since then into their affiliate program, the Vikings Group have ensured that everyone who grew up in Tuggeranong and played sport, grew up with Vikings. 

“Vikings Group are synonymous with both the Tuggeranong Valley and Sport.  We pride ourselves on bringing people together and giving them the opportunity to be active, be a part of something. It’s important to our community and important to Vikings.”

Maree Wilson, President of Canberra Physical Culture Club agrees.  “Vikings have provided educational scholarships to some of our young members to assist them in undertaking higher education. Each year the Vikings Club has given us grants to assist in the provision of training equipment, team uniforms and awards plus the use of a room for extra practices. We are so grateful.” Maree said.

“Our club has gone from strength to strength with the help we have received from the Vikings Club. They look after many sporting clubs and we know they are only a phone call away with help if we need it. We are so proud to be affiliated with the Vikings Group. The Group that is such a tremendous help to the whole Tuggeranong community.”
