Tuggeranong Valley Band

The Tuggeranong Valley Band was established in 1980 as a small community concert band based in the Tuggeranong Valley. The organisation has grown since then and now fields two bands:

  1. The Intermediate Band is a beginner to intermediate level ensemble aimed at students and adults who own their own instrument.
  2. The Concert Band is aimed at more experienced players and is of intermediate to medium advanced level.

Both bands have a wide repertoire of music covering a variety of styles including classical, jazz, popular and movie/theatre works. Players are able to enjoy playing music as part of a group and gain experience performing for the wider community while furthering their musical skills. The bands comprise brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.

The Concert Band regularly performs at community events in and around the Canberra region. Such events include Floriade, The Botanic Gardens Summer Serenade Evenings and Carols By Candlelight at Lanyon Homestead.

The Intermediate Band Players generally are beginners who are learning their instruments elsewhere or are able to play at an early intermediate level. The Intermediate Band performs at community events in and around the Canberra region.

New members are always welcome, so if you live in the Canberra area and would like to have some fun making music, please join us at rehearsal. There are no auditions.

How do I join your Club?

New players are always welcome. No auditions, but you do need your own instrument and a music stand. If you are interested in joining either of the bands please send an email to info@tvband.org.au or come along to rehearsal.

Membership Details

Fees are payable either annually (to be paid before the end of the first term or the year) or per term. The payment amount varies depending on the band you are playing in and whether or not you are a full-time student as shown below.

Note: The student rate applies to all school-aged and mature-aged full time students. Where a parent of a student is a fee paying band member the student’s payment will be waived.

Rehearsal Schedule

The Bands rehearse on Thursday evenings at the Village Performing Arts Centre, Namadgi School, 141 O’Halloran Circuit, Kambah.

You will find someone there from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm during the school terms. Come on in and have a chat, or bring your instrument and a music stand and join in!
