Our Vikings Apprentice Chef Program is an opportunity designed to equip successful graduates with the skills, experience, and qualifications required for a future career in the kitchen.

It’s a fully funded program full of opportunities and experience in a commercial kitchen. We’ll provide you with employment while you study, and mentor you along the way. Upon graduation, you'll be set for a successful career in hospitality as a cook, with the option to continue your studies to become a fully qualified chef.

  • We’ll support and provide you with a clear career pathway into the hospitality industry:

    • Fully funded industry-recognised training (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery) and development opportunities

    • Competency based salary increases and bonus cash incentives throughout the course and on completion of our Apprenticeship program

    • ‘Behind the scenes’ training including site visits and one-on-one time with suppliers and industry partners

    • Full-time (38 hours per week) employment on a rotating roster or Part-time employment for school-based apprentices

    • Dedicated paid training days

    • Full uniform and apprentice toolkit provided

    • Ongoing mentorship from award-winning chefs with international experience

    • Access to all Vikings Group employee incentives including discounted gym membership and Employee Assistance Program

  • You’ll have guidance along your journey as an apprentice chef, and a dedicated mentor will provide you with the support you need:

    • Providing you with guidance and feedback, helping you understand how your work is contributing to our goals.

    • Helping you to guide your professional development towards a successful and rewarding career.

    • Opening doors to networking opportunities with other participants and developing professional relationships that will support you throughout your journey.

  • Apprentice chefs will have the opportunity to work across our various venues:

    • 15 years of age or older

    • Ability to work Full Time (or 15-20 hours per week if School-Based Apprentice)

    • Sound English language, literacy and numeracy skills (ACSF – Level 3)
