Investing in the Next Generation: Meet the 2026 Vikings Affiliate Scholarship Recipients

For more than 35 years, Vikings has proudly supported the Tuggeranong community, championing local sport and investing in the young people who help it thrive. At the heart of this commitment is a belief that sport builds confidence, resilience and connection, shaping strong individuals both on and off the field.

One of the ways this commitment comes to life is through the Vikings Affiliate Scholarship. Established more than 30 years ago, the program has now supported over 400 young athletes, helping to remove financial barriers and create meaningful opportunities for growth.

The scholarship is available to students entering Year 11 or Year 12, as well as those undertaking university study, and is awarded to athletes competing at a representative level within their chosen affiliated sport. It recognises the dedication required to balance academic responsibilities alongside the demands of high-level training and competition.

The scholarship provides $1,000 to each recipient, assisting with costs associated with training, competition, travel, equipment, and study. Recipients can reapply each year as they progress through their sporting and educational journeys, allowing the program to support long-term development, leadership and community contribution.

For many athletes, the impact of the scholarship extends well beyond financial assistance.

“The Affiliate Scholarship has helped me significantly with the travel involved in my sport, allowing me to access extra coaching and further my skill development while continuing to improve as a player. I’m very grateful to the Vikings Group for the continued support as a two-time recipient.”
