2026 Peter Webb Memorial Scholarship Recipient: Issy Tripet
Vikings is proud to announce Issy Tripet as the 2026 recipient of the Peter Webb Memorial Scholarship, recognising her commitment to excellence in both sport and education.
Established in honour of former Vikings CEO Peter Webb, the scholarship supports young people across the Tuggeranong community to grow and succeed both academically and in sport.
A journey driven by dedication
Originally from Jindabyne, Issy decided to join Vikings Rugby at the beginning of the 2025 season, seeking the opportunity to play in Canberra while continuing her development in the Brumbies Super W training program. Committing to the weekly travel, she quickly became a valued member of the Vi Queens team.
Her passion for the game has been evident from an early age. At just 13, when no girls’ rugby union team existed in her area, Issy helped form one alongside some friends and the Jindabyne Bushpigs, demonstrating the initiative and determination that continue to shape her journey today.
This mindset has continued to define her progression, with Vikings Rugby Head Coach Ryan Schultz noting she has “showcased a strong commitment to being her best and improving herself on and off the field.”
Progression on and off the field
Issy’s development in rugby has been significant. Since late 2024, she has been part of the Brumbies Super W training program and will continue in 2026, further progressing at the elite level. She also contributes to the growth of the game through her role as a casual Community Development Officer with the ACT Brumbies.
Off the field, she is currently studying a Bachelor of Midwifery at the University of Canberra and has been recognised for her ability to balance sport and study through her inclusion in the University’s Elite Athlete Program.
Her efforts were also recognised at school, being named Sportsperson of the Year at Jindabyne High School in 2025, reflecting her commitment to leadership and sportsmanship.
Supporting the next stage
This scholarship will provide ongoing support to Issy throughout the duration of her degree, assisting with the costs of pursuing both her academic and sporting ambitions.
“The scholarship funding will help me with the costs of competing at a representative level and attending university,” she said.
Through the Peter Webb Memorial Scholarship, Vikings continues to invest in individuals who demonstrate dedication, initiative and a strong connection to their community, ensuring the next generation is supported to reach its full potential within the Tuggeranong community and beyond.
Vikings is proud to support Issy over the coming years and looks forward to seeing where her commitment and passion take her.
