South Tuggeranong Softball Association
The South Tuggeranong Softball Association promotes and conducts the game of softball in the region south of Isabella Drive in the Tuggeranong Valley. The Association conducts its own junior (Primary School) based competitions and enters youth and adult teams in ACT wide competitions. The Association also provides opportunities for players to represent the STSA, Canberra and the ACT. We also have Australian representatives within the Association as well as a current Under 19’s Men’s World Champion.
Over the period September to March, the Association conducts a Saturday morning competition at the Calwell Playing Fields. School based teams are fielded in T-Ball, Modball and Primary Softball competitions. To encourage participation the Association conducts skills clinics at many Primary Schools each year. These clinics introduce the games of T-ball and softball to the children and promote the games in the local community. Coaching for persons wishing to coach teams is also conducted. Competition details are forwarded to each school prior to the end of third term. Children wishing to participate should contact there school sports coordinator or the STSA directly.
The Association does not conduct competitions for its senior players; rather it fields teams in Youths, Men’s and Women’s competitions conducted throughout the ACT. These competitions, which commence in late September and conclude in late March, include both Fastpitch and Slowpitch Softball. Youth competitions include U12, U14, U16 age groups for Boys and Girls. Mens and Womens competitions include A, B, C and D Grade fixtures.
Youth and Womens competitions are played on a Saturday afternoon. Mens competitions are played on a weekday evening. Members also participate in Masters competitions such as the Australian Masters Games.
The STSA actively supports its members wishing to take up positions as coaches and umpires. Clinics for coaches and umpires are held regularly and accreditation with National level bodies is afforded.
The Association has a mission to promote softball at both the junior and senior levels, encouraging sportsmanship and skills development of participants. New players and officials are also welcome.
