2025 Clubs ACT Awards

Vikings are honoured and humbled to have received four awards at the ClubsACT 2025 Clubs & Community Awards on Monday 27 October.

The ClubsACT Awards Night celebrates the heart, dedication, and innovation outstanding contributions made by Canberra clubs and their teams throughout the year, highlighting vital pillars of connection and community.

For Vikings, the evening was one of pride and celebration, as our team and initiatives were recognised across multiple categories. Each award reflected not only our commitment to sport, recreation, and community engagement, but also the spirit of teamwork, care, and leadership that drives everything we do.

Diversity and Social Inclusion
This award celebrates clubs that actively champion inclusion, diversity, and equality within their sporting communities. It recognises organisations that create welcoming environments for people of all backgrounds, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported both on and off the field.

Vikings was recognised for our commitment to the community through the Kids into Sport program, which provides opportunities for school-aged children who might otherwise not have the means to participate in sport. Our Kids into Sport program supports and enhances community connection, removing barriers and restoring access. Above all, it reminds us that when clubs like ours take the lead, real and lasting empowerment and inclusion is possible.

Contribution to Grassroots Sport

This award celebrates clubs that lead the way in growing grassroots sport and recreation, recognising initiatives that make participation more inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. It honours organisations that remove barriers to involvement and create opportunities for individuals of all abilities and backgrounds to engage meaningfully in sport.

Vikings were recognised for our ongoing commitment to participation, inclusivity, and accessibility in sport and recreation through our Representative Grants, Affiliate Grant Scheme, and Make the Time’s Perseus Program. These initiatives actively invest in healthy lifestyles, social connection, and youth development, breaking financial, logistical, and social barriers so that every athlete, volunteer, and community member can get involved, compete, and belong.

Employee of the Year - Amanda Warburton

This award shines a light on an exceptional employee who demonstrates outstanding skill, dedication and innovation in their role. It celebrates individuals who consistently go above and beyond to enhance the club experience, whether through exceptional service, leadership, or creative problem-solving that improves operations and member satisfaction.

Our very own Amanda was recognised for her remarkable skill, dedication, and innovation in her work. Known for her ability to unite teams and step up wherever she’s needed, Amanda continually delivers exceptional member experiences and has quickly become one of Vikings’ most respected and versatile leaders. Her career is defined by adaptability, a passion for learning and an unwavering commitment to her team, members and the community.

Heart of the Community, Large Club of the Year

This award honours the club that demonstrates outstanding excellence across all areas of operation, embodying the very best of community spirit, innovation, and social impact. It recognises organisations that go above and beyond expectations, excelling not just in one category, but consistently showing leadership, creativity, and a strong commitment to making a positive difference.

Vikings are proud to receive the Heart of the Community Award, recognised as the club that exemplifies excellence across all categories through exceptional community involvement, innovation, and lasting social impact.

The recognition at the ClubsACT Awards Night is a testament to the passion, purpose and community spirit that define Vikings. As we look ahead, we’ll continue to invest in our people, our programs, and our community.
