Fearless Women's Group: Intro to Archery

Vikings is proud to play a role in strengthening local sport and supporting the communities around us.

We proudly support 51 affiliated sports and community clubs through a wide range of programs and resources. One of those clubs being the Capital Field Archers (CFA), a family-oriented field archery club serving the ACT and surrounding region.

Earlier this year, CFA hosted an “Introduction to Archery” event for the Fearless Women’s Group, a Canberra-based charity that supports girls and young women facing significant life challenges.

Held at CFA’s grounds in Ingledene Forest, south of Tharwa, the event offered participants and their mentors a hands-on introduction to field archery. The day began with a briefing on the history of the sport, an overview of various bow styles, and instructions on the equipment handling and safety.

Everyone was equipped with a bow, arrows, and protective gear, and received individual coaching from four CFA trainers. The hosts were impressed by how quickly the girls took to the sport, with many demonstrating natural ability and remarkable accuracy.

It was a great day outdoors, and a memorable way to help build confidence and connection through sport.
