We’re excited to be partnering with the Faculty of Business, Government and Law at the University of Canberra on a research project looking at how customers respond to dining promotions sent by email and SMS.
The project examines how members feel about the relevance, timing, and content of dining offers, as well as how they might influence spending patterns in hospitality venues. The findings will help us better understand how marketing shapes customer behaviour and give us insights to make future promotions even more valuable for our members.
The research is being conducted by Honours student Shivani Sehgal, supervised by Professor Rebekah Russell-Bennett and Associate Professor Habib Khan.

You won’t be asked for any sensitive or identifying personal details such as your name, phone number, or address. The only information collected is your membership number, which allows the research team to match your survey responses with general customer data such as visit frequency and average spend. Once matched, your membership number will be deleted from the data set, making all responses completely anonymous. Importantly, no survey data will be shared with Vikings, we will only receive aggregated findings.
This study has been reviewed and approved by the University of Canberra Human Research Ethics Committee (approval number 14591).
